Foley welcomed the Milaca Wolves yesterday for their third Unified basketball game and it was nothing short of magical. The stands were packed, the excitement was through the roof, and there was a sense of togetherness that was palpable. Both teams were cheering each other on and encouraging each other every step of the way. We are so proud of how the students conducted themselves both on the court and in the stands, causing the gym walls to burst with total unity.
There are so many to thank for such a great event, however we would like to thank Mrs. Piepgras most of all. Her efforts to ensure Foley Schools are a place for unity and inclusion have not gone unnoticed. Mrs. Piepgras was honored at halftime for earning the 96.7 The River’s “Teacher of the Month” award. This is a well-deserved honor for her role in making a difference in the lives of students and our community.
Mr. Darwin Fleck was also honored at the beginning of the game for his many years of service to Foley Schools, and the countless number of students’ lives he has made a difference in over the years. The students congratulated him with a retirement plaque. We will miss you Mr. Fleck!
Another thank you goes out to Independence Electric of Isanti for donating 2 adjustable basketball hoops to the Unified Basketball Team. This allows all of our student athletes to participate!
