09/25/24 FHS Daily Announcements - Wednesday, September 25th -Teacher Assistants 4th & 5th period: TODAY is an early release for grades Kindergarten - 6th grade. If you teacher assist for a classroom in these grades 4th or 5th period please communicate with your teacher if assistance is needed. If they don’t need help while they participate in the READ Act, go to the Media Center. Sign in with Mrs. Bosshart - this is how your attendance will be taken! -The Deficiency List will be run on Friday, September 27th. If you currently have a failing grade in any of your classes, you will be unable to participate in extracurricular competitions or activities effective Wednesday, October 2nd. Please take this time to contact your teachers about how to bring your grade up to passing. -Attention all Girls Basketball Players in Grades 9-12: There will be a girls basketball meeting in the auditorium on Thursday, September 26th during Flex. If you have played basketball before, are planning on playing basketball, or are uncertain if you want to play basketball this season, please plan on attending. This is a great opportunity for you to meet new Head Coach Shaun Miller. If you want to go out for basketball but cannot attend the meeting, please connect with Mr. Inglis. -Tomorrow is "Anything but a Backpack" day. Be creative, however, said containers must be school appropriate, not create disruption and be physically able to fit through doors, hallways and not disrupt classroom seating. -Members of the Homecoming Court, please take down your "get to know me" posters ASAP. Also, do not throw them away, they will make a great display piece at your grad party and your Mom wants them as a keepsake.
-On Friday, September 27th a grade review will be conducted at 2:00 PM. If you have any grade that is a D- or lower you will be restricted for Flex beginning on Monday 09/30/24 and lasting for three weeks. If you are on the restricted list you are required to stay in your assigned flex period (unless allowed to leave at teacher request). If you would prefer to have freedom of movement and choice during your flex time, we encourage you to make every effort possible to have all grades at least a D or higher by Friday, September 20. Students who are on the restricted list will receive an email. If you believe an error was made when the new list is announced, please see Mrs. Gann.
-10th graders: The Guthrie Field Trip due date has been pushed back to THIS THURSDAY, September 26th! Get your permission form and money to Ms. Gross ASAP to reserve your spot!
-Attention 11th grade students who are very strong test takers: The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is an optional exam for 11th grade students who test exceptionally well. Any junior who feels he/she can score in the top ½ of 1% on the PSAT should take the test. Taking the PSAT and scoring in the top ½ of 1% is the ONLY way to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. If you are interested in taking the test, it will be given at Foley High School on Tuesday, October 8th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The registration deadline is Friday, September 27th. A $18.00 fee will be required when you register in the Guidance Office. Please check in with Mr. Dahlstrom or Ms. McIntire with questions.

“Friendly reminder to our student drivers from Officer Cody: MN Statute states that it is a violation for any driver to operate their cell phone or any electronic device while driving a motor vehicle. This means no phone calls, texting, playing games, internet use, snapchatting, tweeting, email, or instagram. And any other app I may have missed. Sitting at a stop sign or stoplight and using your phone is still a violation. Exemptions are making an emergency call. If you need to use your phone, please pull off of the roadway and park your vehicle in a safe manner or use a “hands free” feature or voice activation.
