09/17/24 FHS Daily Announcements - Tuesday, September 17th -There will be a Unified Club meeting on Wednesday during Flex in the Wrestling Room to kick off the school year. Bring a friend and let's get ready to promote inclusion in our schools! If you want more information on what the Unified Club is, please see Mr.Crowell or Mr.Piepgras for information. -FFA Members: Clothing order is open until October 2nd
-Students should not be going to the Snack Shop before getting on the bus. Students who go to the Snack Shop before getting on the bus will be written up.
-Student Body: Please vote for one Homecoming King and one Homecoming Queen. Voting opens at 8 AM on 9/16 and closes at 3:00 on 9/18

-Class of 2026. Any boys who are interested in playing boys volleyball Tuesday night the 24th after the home volleyball game. There will be practice tonight from 7:45-9. If you cannot make practice but still want to play, reach out to Dane Wheeler. Any girls who want to play powderpuff on Wednesday the 24th. Please come to the practice on Sunday night the 22nd from 6:30-7:45. Again if you cannot make it but are interested in playing reach out to Clara Foss. Attached is the link for any girls interested in playing they ask that you purchase the shirt to wear to the game. This order must be placed by Sept. 19th. Thank you!!
-Attention 11th grade students who are very strong test takers: The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is an optional exam for 11th grade students who test exceptionally well. Any junior who feels he/she can score in the top ½ of 1% on the PSAT should take the test. Taking the PSAT and scoring in the top ½ of 1% is the ONLY way to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. If you are interested in taking the test, it will be given at Foley High School on Tuesday, October 8th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The registration deadline is Friday, September 27th. A $18.00 fee will be required when you register in the Guidance Office. Please check in with Mr. Dahlstrom or Ms. McIntire with questions.
-Students who plan to attend the homecoming dance: Outside date forms are available in the media center or the high school office. They MUST be completed by Wed. Sept 25. Late forms will not be accepted!
-Attention all 10th graders! FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITY!!! Ms. Gross is organizing a trip to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Dec. 4th to see A Christmas Carol. The cost of the field trip is $28 which covers your ticket and transportation. We'll be gone the whole day but back in time for after-school activities and busing. See Ms. Gross for a permission slip. Turn in money and completed forms to her (room 305) by Friday, September 20th!
-Are you interested in joining the Minnesota Honor Society? If you want to build a stronger school and community, connect with your neighbors, love making new friends, build a strong resume, and receive honors at graduation - MHS is for you! There will be an informational meeting about the requirements to join MHS and the application process on Tuesday 9/17 during Flex time in Ms. Pelowski's classroom (Room #324). The informational presentation will begin at 9:20am. Both 11th and 12th graders are welcome to apply. Please see Ms. Pelowski or Ms. Gross with any questions.
-The After School Credit Recovery Program is for students who have failed a course or standard required for graduation. The After School Credit Recovery Program will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm. Students are required to attend two days per week. If you have failed a course and are interested in completing it in the after school program see Kristi in the Guidance Office. There are a limited number of spots available so it is important to get the paperwork back ASAP. This program starts on Monday, September 16th.
-The After School Drop-In program is for students who need extra help and support on current homework. The After School Drop-In Program will be available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm. If you are interested in this program see Kristi in the Guidance Office. “Friendly reminder to our student drivers from Officer Cody: Everyone in a motor vehicle must be wearing a seatbelt!!! The driver is liable for any passenger under the age of 15. Any passenger over the age of 15 and not wearing a seatbelt can receive a citation.
