“Friendly reminder to our student drivers from Officer Cody: Passing another vehicle on the left is only allowed on a dotted center line, not a solid center line. Passing should not be done on curves or hills where solid center lines are present. The driver of a vehicle overtaking another vehicle can increase their speed 10 mph over the posted speed limit to overtake another vehicle. Passing another vehicle should only be done when safe to do so and road conditions allow it. A driver can only pass a vehicle on the right when there is a designated bypass lane. Passing on the right or left in town on city streets is a violation of City Ordinance. Any questions or concerns, feel free to see me anytime. Thank you and drive safe!”
