-“Friendly reminder to our student drivers from Officer Cody: MN Statute states it is unlawful for any vehicle to pass a school bus when it has flashing red lights and/or displaying an extended stop arm (it looks like a stop sign and says STOP). When approaching a stopped bus with flashing lights and stop arm extended, do not attempt to pass and stop at least 20 feet away from the bus. Violation of this law is a misdemeanor. Passing the bus on the right hand side of the bus (door side) or when children are outside of the bus is a gross misdemeanor. Please help ensure the safety of our fellow students. Any questions or concerns, feel free to see me anytime. Thank you and drive safe!”
