FHS Daily Announcements - Tuesday, September 19th

 

-This week on Friday a grade review will be conducted. If you have any grade that is a D- or lower you will be restricted for Flex beginning on Monday 9/25/22 and lasting for three weeks. If you are on the restricted list you are required to stay in your assigned flex period (unless allowed to leave at teacher request).

If you would prefer to have freedom of movement and choice during your flex time, we encourage you to make every effort possible to have all grades at least at a D or higher by Friday. If you believe an error was made please see Mr. McMorrow.

 

-There will be a fishing club meeting Thursday during Flex in Mr. Carlson's room(woodshop).  This is for all students 9-12 to discuss fundraising, officers, and the jersey order.

 

-Conservation club will be having our first all member meeting for new and current members on Friday during Flex in Mr. Marod’s room. 

 

10th graders: Field Trip money and permission slips are due to Ms. Gross by Wednesday! 

 

All Students: Book Club is back and better than ever! Come to Ms. Gross' room (305) during Flex today to see what it is all about!

 

-All 12th grade students must attend an informational session in the auditorium on Wednesday, September 27th during Flex time. See Kristi or one of the counselors in the Guidance Office with questions.

 

-For 11th or 12th graders with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, interested in joining Minnesota Honor Society, there will be an informational meeting during Flex THIS Thursday Sept 21 in Ms. Pelowski's Classroom. Mark your calendars. Please attend the meeting to learn more about MHS, specific requirements, as well as to get an application to apply to MHS. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Gross or Ms. Pelowski 

 

-Ladies grades 9-12 who are interested in going to Girls IN Aviation Day on September 23rd Should see Mr. Wilke during Flex time

 

-Any student 9th-12th grade that is interested in being a part of the Unified Club can come to a meeting on Wednesday September 20th during Flex time. The meeting will take place in the wrestling room.  See Ms.Piepgras or Mr.Crowell with any questions.

 

-Attention 11th grade students who are very strong test takers:

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is an optional exam for 11th grade students who test exceptionally well.  Any junior who feels he/she can score in the top ½ of 1% on the PSAT should take the test.  Taking the PSAT and scoring in the top ½ of 1% is the ONLY way to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship.  If you are interested in taking the test, it will be given at Foley High School on Tuesday, October 10th   from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The registration deadline is Friday, September 29th. A $18.00 fee will be required when you register in the Guidance Office.  Please check in with Mr. Dahlstrom or Ms. McIntire with questions.

 

-The After School Credit Recovery Program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00pm in Room 335 (Foods Lab) starting on Sept. 19th. This program is for students who have failed a course or standard required for graduation. If you have failed a course and are interested in completing it in the After School Program, see Kristi in the Guidance Office.  There are a limited number of spots available and forms are due by September 26th so it is important to get the paperwork back ASAP. 

 

-The After School Homework Support Program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00pm in Room 335 (Foods Lab) starting on Sept. 19th. This program is for students who need extra help and support on current homework. Students can pick up a parent permission form from Kristi in the Guidance Office and can enroll at any time.
